Chang Lin-sheng (Leslie Chang) talks about the new expectations from contemporary museum visitors and their effects on the Aurora Museum, Shanghai.
Chang has been director of the Aurora Museum since its inception in 2003 in Taipei, Taiwan. She is responsible for defining the museum’s mission and developing its strategic direction. In 2013, she oversaw the museum’s relocation from Taipei to its current site in Shanghai. Previously she was a professor at Chung Yuan Christian University, Taoyuan. From 1991 to 2000, Chang held the position of deputy director at the National Palace Museum in Taipei, where she began her career as a junior staff member in 1968 and later served as curator and head of the Department of Antiquities. She was instrumental in cultivating the National Palace Museum’s international partnerships and collaborating with other world-renowned museums such as the National Gallery in Washington, DC, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. Chang specializes in ancient Chinese bronzes, enamelware, and the study of antiquities. She has published numerous articles and papers in academic journals and at international symposiums. She currently sits on the Advisory Committee of the National Palace Museum. Chang holds an MA in art history from Chinese Culture University and a BA in history from National Taiwan University.
