    Suresh Suras Shrestha is Under-Secretary (Chief Archaeological Officer) of the Department of Archeology of Kathmandu. Shrestha is a frequent presenter and representative of Nepal at international conferences on cultural heritage preservation, including the International Symposium on Preservation of Oriental Cultural Heritage Sites in Tianjin (2014). In 2011, he participated in an archaeological survey in Lumbini, the birthplace of the historical Buddha, and was part of the Nepalese delegation of managers of cultural and natural World Heritage properties to attend the UNESCO workshop on reporting the implementation of the World Heritage Convention in Suwon. He is a correspondent for the Cultural Heritage Protection Cooperation Office of the Asia-Pacific Cultural Centre for UNESCO (ACCU) and periodically submits reports on cultural heritage protection activities in which he has been involved in Nepal. Following the 2015 earthquake in Nepal, Shrestha has handled all international assistance regarding the conservation, renovation, rehabilitation, and reconstruction of affected cultural heritage sites.
